Giving Thanks

This is a season where we are meant to stop, to slow down, to look around us, and to give thanks. In the midst of a crazy schedule – of trying to juggle 2 different jobs, raise and homeschool our boys, prepare for another baby, get the house ready to sell, etc – we have much to be thankful for. God has been so good to us. And as we spend extra time with family, we realize how blessed we are to have family that loves God, that supports us, that is willing to sacrifice with us. I often think that it may be a greater sacrifice for grandparents to say goodbye to grandchildren than for us to say goodbye to the US.

But joy is waiting for us all. We believe God has great joy in store for us as we go, and for our family as they say goodbye. So we give thanks. The sacrifice is real, but so is the joy. “For the joy set before him, He endured the cross.” He calls us to follow in His footsteps. Not because He wants to deprive us of joy, but because walking in His way is where our deepest joy is found. “In His presence there is fullness of joy, and at His right hand, there are pleasures forevermore.”
